The Ways Hate Is Conveyed
October 2025
This publication represents the culmination of my research and creative efforts during the first semester of my senior year in the graphic design program. The primary objective of the assignment was to perform an in-depth investigation into a specific niche or social phenomenon, which would ultimately serve as the conceptual foundation for my year-long capstone project. I chose to focus my research on the complexities of communication, specifically examining how individuals with bigoted mindsets utilize language and react to various social stimuli and interpersonal interactions.
To ensure the academic and ethical integrity of this booklet, I gathered a diverse range of secondary sources through extensive online research. Key resources that informed the development of this work include data from the Amnesty International website and the "Guide to Inclusive Language" published by the Office of Human Rights in Washington, D.C.. These sources provided a critical framework for understanding the impact of language on social dynamics and helped shape the design strategy for the final publication.
For the subject matter, I aimed for symbolic and simplistic imagery. I utilized the color red to emphasize the visuals, ensuring each one correlates directly with the specific topics presented on the individual pages.
